Media has never been so exciting, challenging and important to Singapore.
The Media Development Authority (MDA) has been created to focus on and develop the media industry, putting Singapore at the forefront of the media age.
The MDA was formed by the merger of the Singapore Broadcasting Authority, the Films and Publications Department, and the Singapore Film Commission (SFC), on 1 Jan 2003. The setting up of MDA is in response to the convergence of different media that requires a consistent approach in developing and managing the different forms of media.
Various initiatives, developments and standards for television, film, video, radio, publication and new media are handled by the MDA. The organisation makes its guidelines clear and consistent across all the media so as to create a pro-business environment.
The MDA has a dual-function role that contributes to developing Singapore into a vibrant global media city as well as a creative economy and a connected society. The first is to promote the growth of the media industry. The second is to manage content to protect core values and safeguard consumers' interests.
The raison d'ętre of the MDA is to develop Singapore into a vibrant global city so as to foster a creative economy and connected society.
The MDA's vision is captured in the Media 21 blueprint to develop Singapore into a global media city.
The five strategic thrusts of MDA are to:

The Association of Independent Television Production Companies (Singapore) is an industry organization that represents, promotes and protects the interests of the independent local media production companies.
Our Mission: To Represent and promote the interests of the Singapore independent producers.
Our Vision: To be the leading voice, and representation of the independent production companies, by bridging and connecting our members to the international media community, and to be the platform for the professional development and building of Singapore’s media industry.
Our Objectives: Establish guidelines and best business practices in the industry. Encourage and promote excellence in all aspects of television production through professional standards and codes of conduct. Provide a forum for members to network and keep up with developments in the industry. Work with government bodies, broadcasters and other industry bodies to promote Singapore as an international broadcast production hub.
We are executive producers of television, film and international media events.
Combing the world around us for great ideas and important themes, we harvest the power of storytelling to create compelling content that inspires, educates and entertains the audiences and clients we serve.
The Ballinran name has its roots in Ireland, a land where legends and yarns have been passed down through the generations - a society where the art of storytelling has always been highly-prized.
Fitting, because creating and sharing stories is what we do best.
